Phase-Out of Charter Fleet Survey

We regularly survey boats at the end of their charter contract at all the charter companies in the BVI. We work for the vessel's owners and work closely with the maintenance crew of the charter companies.

CARIBBEAN MARINE SURVEYORS LTD CONDITION SURVEY FOR PHASE-OUT
The purpose of the phase-out survey, is to provide the owner with a report o­n the condition of the vessel after the charter company has completed their work to phase-out the vessel from their fleet. The survey is usually carried out in three phases. We inspect the vessel's bottom preferably after the last charter and make recommendations. We survey the rest of the vessel when the phase out has started and make recommendations. We re-inspect the vessel when the charter company think that they have finished to check that all the work has been completed to a satisfactory standard. Sometimes we have to make several follow up visits to ensure compliance with recommendations.
THE SURVEY REPORT WILL:
1. Identify the vessel and major equipment using serial numbers wherever possible.
2. Identify defects, damages, previous repairs where visible.
3. Include an evaluation of the structural integrity of the hull and deck.
4. Report on the hull bottom for delamination and osmosis evaluation.
5. Report on the condition of the mast and rigging.
6. Report on the installation of machinery and the condition of engines as far as can be ascertained from their operation.
7. Report on the installation of electrical equipment.
8. Report on the tankage.
9. Include details of the safety equipment.
10. Evaluate the navigation equipment.
11. Be written in concise normal language using marine terminology where necessary.
12. Contain digital photographs of pertinent items.
13. Be completed in a timely manner.
The survey does not include a detailed evaluation of the sails, a detailed mechanical evaluation of the engine(s), these are available through local contractors.
THE SURVEY
The phase out of fleet usually takes place over a four week period. The survey is usually carried out in three phases. THE PHASE-OUT SURVEY CAN ALSO USED BY FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND CAN BE USED FOR INSURANCE PROVIDED WE KNOW IN ADVANCE .

OUR FEES
We have a basic fee structure of US$20.00 per foot for monohulls and US$23.00 per foot for catamaran. There will be no additional charges, irrespective of the number of visits or time taken to complete the phase-out, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
